Deaf Choices UK.
Deaf Choices UK. (DCUK) Literacy for SEND children including Deaf children.
We are a Charity that supports deaf children and their parents from birth to 18 years old. We support parents to navigate the choices that are available for their deaf child to acquire language, engage with communication and learn to read.
DCUK are at the conference to demonstrate their unique Key Stage 1Literacy Resource Nan-in-a-Van (NIAV.)
• NIAV is an intervention created to work alongside all other literacy programmes.
• It is intended to be a short intervention which will help children struggling to learn to read to succeed at their Phonics screening test.
• NIAV uses both Cued Speech and British Sign Language to demonstrate the difference between sounds, letters and pictures.
• NIAV helps a child to feel confident with segmenting and blending and recognising alien words.

Data and evidence highlight areas for development, resulting in improved outcomes for children and young people with SEND or in care.
The TCES group
The TCES group is a family-owned social enterprise consisting of independent special schools in London, a Nurture specialist primary school, a community-based provision across London and the DfE accredited National Online School. We work with the most complex students in the country, providing holistic therapeutic education through the ‘TCES Way’. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2024, having supported over 4,000 students on their journey from isolation to independence. In that time, we have never permanently excluded any child. We never give up.
